The accounting and advisory firm CohnReznick LLP recently raised more than $105,000 at its 13th annual employee Bowl-A-Thon, which benefits Make-A-Wish New Jersey. This brings the total raised for Make-A-Wish by the Firm over the last 13 years through employee fundraising, donations, and raffles to more than $1.45 million.
Make-A-Wish, one of the CohnReznick Foundation's supported charities, depends on donations to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. The wishes are limited only by the child's imagination. According to the organization, CohnReznick’s efforts have now fully funded more than 135 wishes through Make-A-Wish New Jersey's Adopt-A-Wish® Program. This summer, approximately 15 wishes will be granted through the funds raised at this year's Bowl-A-Thon.
At the event held on July 15, 2014, partners and staff from CohnReznick’s New Jersey offices filled the lanes at Hanover Lanes in East Hanover, NJ. Each bowler raised donations and sponsorships from friends, family, and clients. Bowlers, other employees, and their families also participated in raffles and tricky tray auctions, which raised additional money for the cause. Every year, CohnReznick is honored to host a Wish child (and his/her family) who has been granted a wish through the donation from the prior year's Bowl-A-Thon. Once again this year, a Wish child attended to share his story and participate in the event.
“Each year, I continue to be impressed by our team’s dedication to supporting this very worthy organization,” said Michael L. Cohen, President of the CohnReznick Foundation and a Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey board member. “Knowing that we played a part in bringing some joy to children inspires us to continue to support this worthy organization.”
In June, CohnReznick was recognized as a finalist for New Jersey Monthly’s inaugural Great Oak Awards, honoring businesses for their work on behalf of charitable causes. The winners will be revealed at an awards dinner on September 30 at the Palace at Somerset Park.
